Discover Forex Mini Account Trading

Forex mini accounts are ideal for just about anybody who is starting out in forex trading. You would have to be very rich or very confident to start right out with a standard account if you are a retail trader (i.e. somebody trading on their own account from home). A mini account lets you get started without risking so much money and this makes it a very attractive option for most people. The normal lot size of currency is 100,000 in forex trading and mini forex trading accounts generally allow you to trade with 10,000 units or one tenth the normal lot size. Currency trading works with leverage. So, of course you do not have to have this much in your account. You need $100 if you are using 100 times leverage to control $10,000 in your mini account or $1,000 to control $100,000 for a standard account. The mini trading account is so attractive for most people because $100 or 100 units of other currency per trade is enough to commit to a trade when they are starting out. The pip size is also usually smaller in a mini account. Pips are units in which you will measure your profits, losses and costs (the spread). Their dollar value can vary depending on the currency pair that you are trading, the lot size and other conventions of your broker, but a common standard pip size is $10 and mini pip size is $1. Some brokers are now quoting prices to 5 decimal places which technically would make one pip 0.00001 of the quoted price, but we will continue to use the standard 4 decimal place pip for this example. So if you have a standard forex account you can expect to put up $1,000 on each trade, be involved in trading lots of $100,000 and measure your profits in $10 units. If you have a forex mini account you will measure your profits in $1 units and you can expect to commit $100 on each trade and be involved in trading lots of $10,000. So that you do not have to risk all of the money that is committed to the trade, you can set stop losses. But your losses will be measured in terms of pips so these too will be 10 times greater in the standard account. You may want to move up to trading greater sums if you are successful and your fund grows. By trading more than one lot at a time, you can still do this in your mini account. So you would just trade ten mini lots if you want to trade a standard lot size. Because your pip size is still just $1, this has the advantage of still giving you the ability for fine control of your stops. The forex mini account is a development that has opened up the market to people who have the technology but not the money for standard currency trading investment. The standard account used to be all that was available before so many people had powerful home computers and high speed internet connections that made it possible for the ordinary person to trade from home. You could look at forex micro accounts if you want to risk even less of your money. Forex micro accounts allow you to make even smaller trades. Be aware though that the spread is often a little high and with a micro account you might find it difficule to profit. Until your confidence builds it may be better to use a demo account and then open a forex mini account for real trading. I'm sure you probably have a lot more questions about forex mini accounts...

A Look Backwards at the Telephone

It really doesn't take much of a look back in history to find some interesting things out about the telephones that we are currently using. Alexander Graham Bell started the entire thing but it is not even necessary for us to go back to that century for the purpose of this article. Just looking back a couple of decades is interesting enough. Most of us are familiar with computers but it wasn't all that long ago that computers were not available and the entire telephone system was operated manually. Operators would answer the telephone calls that were coming in, find out the place where they were heading out and then manually plug them into a large switch board which was in front of them. Although this system worked well for a while, it eventually needed to be upgraded which is why the telephone company made its next move. It was during this period of time whenever they came up with the 10 digit telephone system, the same one that we are using today. Using this system, the computers at the phone company were able to identify where the telephone number was originating from and then they could automatically connect it to whatever number it was dialing. It automated everything, removing the process of having somebody manually plug things in. The area code is the first three digits that you dial whenever you are using the full 10 digit telephone number. During that time whenever the new numbers were becoming available, these codes were assigned to specific areas of the country, either large or small, depending on the amount of telephones that were in existence. It seemed that we were never going to run out of all of the area codes that were available, but they are getting used up at a faster rate today. The second three digits in the telephone number are more of a localized number which can help you to break down where a telephone call is coming from or going to. Inside each area code, the possibility of 999 different numerical combinations allowed for a wide diversity and a narrow coverage for each of those numbers. It wasn't all that long ago whenever we didn't use pushbutton telephones, and everybody had a rotary dial phone. Although these went out of service a couple of decades ago, most of the telephone systems to allow you to use a rotary system, even today. It was a large dial with numbers and you would spin the dial and allow it to spin back, the noise of the spinning letting the phone company know which number it was that you dialed. We have moved quite a bit away from the house phone now and many of us are exclusively using cellular telephones in order to place all of our calls. The fax machine is also becoming increasingly popular and as a result, more and more area codes are being used up regularly. Even though it wasn't all that many years ago that we didn't carry cell phones around, most of us could not imagine that day ever coming again. As we continue to push on in the future, it's difficult to tell where the telephone company and technology is going to take us. Until that time, however, the simple area code in 10 digit telephone number will continue to be something that we can use to our benefit.

What Have the Past 20 Years Done for Us with the Phone?

If you have only been using the telephone for a limited number of years, you might be interested in reviewing a little bit of history about this device. Although it is not necessary for us to go the whole way back to the original telephone, just going back a couple of decades would be enough to fill an encyclopedia of knowledge. This is when the 10 digit telephone number came into existence and it was a huge step forward over the old system of talking to a manual operator. By being able to identify where the call was coming from and where it was going to, using this numerical system, the entire process was able to be automated. The first three digits that you use whenever you are dialing a telephone number are routed to various areas of the country. Whenever the 10 digit system first came into place, these three digit numbers were assigned to specific areas, and therefore became known as area codes. At the time whenever they were first used, they seem to be in limitless supply but now they are being used up rather quickly. The next three digits that you dial whenever you are dialing a 10 digit number is more localized than the area code. Since there are 999 different variations that can be used within any given area code, it helps you to narrow down exactly where the telephone number is going to. This also helps the computers to route the call quickly. It would be nice to be able to peer into the future and see what the technological advances are going to bring to us. Until that time, however, the simple 10 digit number is all that is necessary for us to talk to anybody, at any place in the country.

A Way for You to Control Your Telephone

If there is one thing that is enhanced our lives more than any other, it's the simple telephone. The unfortunate part about the telephone is the fact that it is also the piece of equipment that we often find to be the most frustrating. The reason why this is the case is because it interrupts our lives and often tends to dictate exactly what we are going to do. Here is a short primer to help you to take control of this item that often controls us. If there is one thing that you need to get used to when it comes to the telephone, it's the fact that you are in control of the phone, the phone is not in control of you. The unfortunate thing is that all of us tend to pick up the phone whenever it rings, a response like Pavlov's dogs and this is a very controlling thing that takes place. What you need to get in your mind as far as this is concerned is the fact that the phone is being held in the hand, which is an extension of the arm and you control both of those objects on your body. Just because the phone is ringing does not necessarily mean that you need to lift it to your ear and begin talking. If you can understand just this one thing about the telephone, it will free up an amazing amount of time that you can use to get other things done. When you are on the telephone, you should make sure that that is all that you are doing at that time. Most of us think that we are great multitaskers and we could try to do a number of different things at the same time, even whenever we are on the telephone. Believe it or not, very few people were able to multitask effectively so give the telephone the attention that it deserves whenever you're on it. If you talk regularly on the telephone with a diverse group of people, something that you might want to consider is giving them the opportunity to talk. Most of us tend to dominate the conversation whenever we are on the phone regularly but something that is important to remember is that people enjoy talking about themselves. Give other people the opportunity to talk about themselves, and perhaps even their problems, and you will be known as a good listener. If you're using the telephone for work, make sure that you use it effectively at all times. This is also true whenever you're leaving a voicemail. Most people only leave their name and telephone number but it is actually an opportunity for you to give a brief announcement about whatever it is that you are trying to get across to them. Although it would be a bad idea for you to try and sell them on the voicemail, priming them for the next conversation is an excellent choice. The telephone can either be a great tool for us to use or it can end up being a noose around our necks. Make sure that you use it as it is intended and this piece of technology will be a benefit that will work well for you.
